Gr-Attitude

Gr-Attitude

Yesterday was a strange day for me. A bit of an up & down day. Not a particularly busy day, in fact quite relaxed. I was a little tired, so that may have been contributing to the grump I found myself in.

The morning started off in quite a rush to get to church. The service was inspired! So far so good. Once church was done, my husband & I got some extra groceries that we needed at the shops. Our kids were staying over at his sister, so it was just the 2 of us. All good! When we got home, I made us some lunch & we lazed about on the couch… & that was when it hit me.

Just the most intense sadness & even a sense of irritability. I’m not even entirely sure about what. I have been taking things slowly with my new venture, just enjoying being away from the hustle & bustle of corporate & focusing on finding balance. I have been able to spend alot more time with my kids during the school week & evenings with my husband has been relaxed. There has been no Sunday evening anxiety as I used to suffer during my corporate life & the week days have been generally well balanced. I have also been aware that making such a huge change has some emotional implications & that I need to remain cognisant of this as well.

My husband chatted with me to encourage me & he got me thinking about gratitude. What is gratitude?
gratitude
ˈɡratɪtjuːd/
noun
the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
synonyms: gratefulness, thankfulness, thanks, appreciation, recognition, acknowledgement, hat tip, credit, regard, respect; sense of obligation, indebtedness

Gratitude is all of the above. Being grateful for all the good but also for the challenges that stretch & grow me. Thankfulness; not taking any 1 thing for granted. Appreciating every aspect & savoring every moment, person, experience that makes me smile. Appreciation also for the bits that make me frown. The bits that teach me valuable lessons about myself, those around me & life in general. Recognition & awareness is so important as well. Recognising myself in every moment & knowing that I have the ability to overcome through faith & perseverance. Recognising the strength that other people around me carry & also recognising them during their moments of weakness. Supporting them through those moments. Acknowledgement of my gifts & abilities & also of the areas that could do with some improvement. Accepting that every challenge is an opportunity to learn something new, hone a new skill, sharpen a new sword in my armour. Acknowledging every person around me for the Divine creation that they are & for their unique purpose & contribution.

Have Gratitude also means having a GREAT ATTITUDE.

attitude
ˈatɪtjuːd/Submit
noun
1.
a settled way of thinking or feeling about something.
synonyms: point of view, view, viewpoint, vantage point, frame of mind, way of thinking, way of looking at things, school of thought, outlook, angle, slant, perspective, reaction, stance, standpoint, position, inclination, orientation, approach

A New frame of mind. A revised outlook. Looking out for the opportunities, the gaps & the ways to add value. Its quite challenging despite it being an exciting way of existing. Focusing on the positive perspective in every situation. If I am able to find the opportunity to be grateful in every moment, then every moment will be filled with abundance. I will see the fullness & joy in every encounter.

Its not necessarily easy to always have a great attitude. To have gratitude or Gr-Attitude. In order to recognise the opportunity for gratitude, one has to have a positive attitude. A Positive attitude enabling you to find the silver lining around every cloud. Just this train of thought led to a brand new lease this morning. New ideas & approaches which have led to new realisations…

I am challenging myself to have Gr-Attitude. May I be so bold as to ask you to do the same?

Much Love
Lynne
